Welcome to Fish Taco Chronicles Shawn Arnold is publisher of the off beat outdoor quarterly magazine Fish Taco Chronicles. Shawn share's his fishing and traveling experiences that range from local Southern California spots to exotic locations such as Costa Rica and Mexico. Shawn's attitude is: "You might catch more fish than him - but you won't have more fun!" Trolling and Drifting Tops at 9-23-09 Some of the best September weather in years has equated to an excellent bite
for trollers and drifters hitting the deeper water near boiler cove or mid-lake.
The Flasher/Crawler combo at 3 to 5 colors has been best for trolling and Folks are still spotting lots and lots of fish at the inlets but the bite has really slowed down there for some reason. We're still waiting on the Browns to show up but some of the fly fishers did excellent on Brookies to 13", which have apparently started to stage in the shallower water in a pre-spawn pattern. After the brookies move in, the Browns are sure to follow not long after. The lake level is steadily dropping but it's still plenty high to access all areas of the lake. No problems for private boaters either as the launch ramp is still good to go. South Fork Bishop Creek The flows are still moderate on the South Fork and the creek has been fishing quite good with the lighter crowds so long as the DFG continues their weekly stocking. Alpers are due this coming Friday so we're expecting some quality fish to come out over the weekend. Gulp! eggs inQuestions??
